Director of Photography Services
Experienced DPs for film, TV, commercials, and documentaries throughout Mexico.
A Director of Photography shapes the visual narrative of a production through creative decisions about lighting, camera movement, lens selection, and composition. Mexico's extraordinary cinematographic tradition — home to masters like Emmanuel Lubezki AMC ASC, Rodrigo Prieto AMC ASC, and Guillermo Navarro AMC ASC — and its diverse landscapes from desert to jungle make it one of the world's premier filming destinations.
We connect you with experienced Directors of Photography who understand both the creative and practical demands of your production. Whether you are shooting at Estudios Churubusco in Mexico City or on location in Oaxaca, our team matches your project with DPs who bring the right visual sensibility and equipment sourced through rental houses like Cinecolor and Baja Studios.

Mexico DP network anchored by Lubezki, Prieto, and Navarro — three-time consecutive Oscar cinematography lineage routing through Estudios Churubusco, Lemon Studios, and Fox Baja
Here is how this works in practice. We assemble Director of Photography packages across Mexico City, Guadalajara, Baja, and Yucatán with crews trained inside the deepest cinematography custom in Latin America. Mexico's DP roster sits behind only Los Angeles and London in global Oscar-class credits. This covers Emmanuel 'Chivo' Lubezki ASC AMC won three consecutive Best Cinematography Academy Awards (Gravity 2013, Birdman 2014, The Revenant 2015) plus Roma 2018; Rodrigo Prieto ASC AMC anchors the Iñárritu and Scorsese benches (Silence, Killers of the Flower Moon 2023, Barbie 2023); Guillermo Navarro ASC AMC took Best Cinematography 2007 for Pan's Labyrinth.
On the ground, the bench beneath them runs deep through AMC (Asociación Mexicana de Cinematógrafos) and connects directly to Estudios Churubusco (Mexico's oldest studio, govt-owned since 1945), Lemon Studios CDMX (Bardo finishing), and Fox Baja Studios Rosarito (Titanic, Master and Commander, Pearl Harbor world's-largest ocean tank). Our DPs bring the camera trucks, focus pullers, AC teams, DITs, and gaffer relationships to scale from one-day commercial pickups to long-form features.
Here is the short of it. DP selection respects the visual lineage of the territory. A Yucatán shoot at Chichén Itzá or Tulum routes through DPs familiar with INAH archaeological-site lighting restrictions and the sun-baked Maya jungle palette that Mel Gibson's Apocalypto established. A CDMX Roma-style monochrome project pairs naturally with DPs from the Cuarón circle who shot or operated on the 2018 production through Roma and Condesa neighborhoods. Baja desert Westerns (Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Sicario) pull from the Durango Magnificent Seven 2016 vaquero-Western lineage.
On the ground, Spectre's 2015 Day of the Dead Zócalo opening — credited with shifting CDMX cinema infrastructure for global tentpoles — established the helicopter aerial DP roster we now book for high-profile feature work. Beyond credits, our DPs hold STIC and STPC union eligibility, EFICINE 189/190 federal tax-credit familiarity, and IMSS workers-comp coverage. Pre-pro tech scouts factor altitude (CDMX 2,240m oxygen-reduced for action), volcanic plume monitoring around Popocatépetl, and hurricane-season blackout windows across Pacific and Caribbean coasts June–November.
FAQ
Our DP Network
What experience levels of DPs do you provide?
We offer DPs across all experience levels: emerging cinematographers for indie and low-budget projects, mid-level DPs with solid commercial and documentary credits, and senior DPs with feature film and international broadcast experience. We match experience to your budget and project requirements.
How do you match DPs to projects?
We review your creative brief, reference materials, and budget to shortlist DPs with relevant genre experience and aesthetic alignment. You receive curated showreels and can request direct conversations with candidates before booking.
What camera systems do your DPs work with?
Our DPs are proficient across all major cinema camera systems including ARRI Alexa, RED, Sony Venice, Blackmagic, and Canon cinema lines. Many specialize in specific systems but all are adaptable to production requirements and rental availability.
Do DPs come with their own equipment?
Some owner-operator DPs bring personal camera packages, while others work with rented equipment. We coordinate equipment sourcing based on your preference and budget, whether through DP-owned gear, rental houses, or production-provided equipment.
Can you provide international DPs for shoots in Mexico?
Yes. We can source international DPs for shoots in Mexico, handling work permits and logistics. We also provide Mexican DPs for international productions requiring local cinematography talent abroad.
What's included in DP day rates?
Standard DP day rates cover on-set cinematography services during production hours. Pre-production work (tech scouts, shot listing, meetings) is typically billed separately. Equipment, camera assistants, and overtime are additional based on project scope.
