CGI & 3D Animation

Cutting-edge computer-generated imagery and 3D animation that brings imagination to life with photorealistic quality.

Scroll

CGI and 3D animation create photorealistic or stylized digital imagery through computer modeling, texturing, lighting, and rendering. These techniques produce everything from subtle environmental extensions to fully animated characters and worlds, expanding a production's visual scope beyond the limits of practical filmmaking.

We connect you with CGI and 3D animation studios capable of delivering the quality and volume your project requires. Our team coordinates creative briefings, asset reviews, and technical pipelines to ensure your CG elements match your production's visual standards and integrate seamlessly with live-action plates.

CGI and 3D animation at AnimaEstudios (Pinocchio del Toro 2022), Brainstorm Multimedia, plus cross-border ILM and DNEG LA

Here is how this works in practice. We set up CGI and 3D animation production through Mexico's flagship animation house AnimaEstudios in Toluca — the studio that partnered with Guillermo del Toro and ShadowMachine LA on Pinocchio (2022, Best Animated Feature Oscar). AnimaEstudios runs Autodesk Maya, Houdini SideFX, ZBrush, Substance Painter, and Mari pipelines. With Arnold and Redshift as the render farms backing 3D animation projects. The studio's previous credits include Top Cat: The Movie, Legend of the Lost Tribe, and a range of pan-LatAm animated features blending anime-meets-Mexican-folk look.

On the ground, Brainstorm Multimedia Mexico handles broadcast-grade 3D and motion graphics, Globio Studio and Cumbre Studio offer expert mid-tier 3D pipelines, and Hechizo Estudio covers boutique creative 3D. For high-end VFX-CGI integration on global features, we set up cross-border with DNEG LA, ILM (Industrial Light & Magic), and Method Studios LA. It runs on USMCA carnet pipelines that have shipped Mexican CGI to Marvel, Lucasfilm, and Netflix originals.

Here is the short of it. Mexican 3D animation talent trains at CUEC / ENAC-UNAM, CCC, Tecnológico de Monterrey's animation program, and AnimaEstudios's in-house training pipeline — Mexico's senior film schools. It was set up 1963 and continuing as the country's primary creative-technical animation feeders. Animation heritage extends back to UNAM-trained artists. The Cantinflas-era studio pipelines, modernized through AnimaEstudios's 2000s growth. For broadcast pickup, Mexican IFT-compliant deliverables route to Televisa San Ángel, TV Azteca Ajusco, Imagen TV, Canal Once (heavy on children's animation programming), and Canal 22.

On the ground, Streaming pickup at Vix (TelevisaUnivision LatAm SVOD HQ'd CDMX), Netflix LatAm, Disney+ LatAm (which absorbed Star+ in 2024), Apple TV+ LatAm, and Amazon Prime Video LatAm follows each sites's IMF or H.265 mezzanine sheet. Festival-circuit delivery for Annecy, Festival Internacional de Cine de Morelia (FICM), FICG Guadalajara, and Pixelatl (Mexico's animation industry festival) follows DCI-P3 cinema spec with DCP-compatible packaging.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What 3D software do you use?

We work with industry-standard software including Maya, 3ds Max, Cinema 4D, Houdini, ZBrush, and Blender. For rendering, we use Arnold, V-Ray, Redshift, and real-time engines like Unreal. We select tools based on project requirements and can integrate with your existing pipeline.

Can you create photorealistic CGI?

Yes, achieving photorealistic results is one of our specialties. We use physically-based rendering, detailed texturing with tools like Substance Painter, accurate lighting simulation, and careful attention to real-world reference to create CGI that's indistinguishable from photography.

Do you handle character animation?

We provide full character animation services including rigging, motion capture cleanup, keyframe animation, and facial animation. Our animators bring characters to life with believable movement and emotional performance, whether stylized or realistic.

What's your typical production timeline?

Timelines vary significantly based on complexity. A simple product visualization might take days, while a complex character or environment could take weeks or months. We'll provide detailed schedules during bidding and maintain clear communication throughout production.

Productions in Mexico that need this often pair it with Rotoscoping & Cleanup Services, Visual Effects Compositing, and Motion Graphics Services for full coverage. Most projects also draw on Audio Mixing & Mastering and Archival & Preservation Services.
