Common Questions

Is Mexico's incentive a cash rebate or a tax credit?

It is a tax credit, not a cash rebate. The 2026 federal incentive grants a credit of up to 30% of eligible Mexico spend that is applied against Mexican income tax (ISR). Notably, the credit may also be transferred for consideration to another taxpayer.

Can I combine it with the EFICINE stimulus?

No. The 2026 incentive cannot be applied jointly with the EFICINE stimulus under Article 189 of the Income Tax Law on the same project. Producers choose whichever route best fits their structure.

Is there a cap on the credit?

Yes. The credit is capped at MXN 40 million per project and per beneficiary (roughly USD 2.3 million), within an annual programme-wide budget of MXN 400 million across all approved projects.

Do I need a Mexican production company?

Yes. The incentive requires a Mexican production company and that at least 70% of suppliers be Mexican tax residents. Fixers in Mexico can serve as your local partner and handle these requirements.

Maximize Your Production Budget in Mexico

Mexico's incentive rewards spend kept in-country: at least 70% of suppliers must be Mexican tax residents, the project must run through a Mexican production company, and only deductible costs incurred in Mexico count toward the up-to-30% credit. Structuring the budget locally from the start is what unlocks the benefit. Contact Fixers in Mexico to discuss your next project.
